There exists a certain type of incredibly sleazy male, the kind who has paleolithic attitudes about women that would embarrass the guy filming the Girls-Gone-Wild videos, but who at some point in his education, discovered that he got a complete pass on his repulsive personal antics as long as he professed a feminist political agenda. These men discovered that they can treat women like sex toys, demean them, and otherwise act like complete shits and, as long as they said the right things in public, their peers would actually make excuses for their behavior. This is not just limited to a certain recent president. We can find manifestations in the “liberal” attitudes of a publication such as Playboy. (Hell, the fact that Playboy counts as a liberal magazine pretty much defines the preceding thesis.)

Recently, Guy Cimbalo defined the genre of the misogynist liberal male by writing a heavily promoted article that was titled (wait for it) conservative women they’d like to “hate-fuck”. Strangely enough, many folks did not seem to get the joke and Playboy promptly pulled the article.  Apparently, Mr. Cimbalo’s rape fantasies about Michelle Malkin were not the blogging gold the editors thought they were. But Google Cache has its uses, you hate-fucking asshat.

Why not? Romance fiction has spend decades coming up with all sorts of euphamisms for rape as part of having the victim fall in love with her rapist. I did a paper on romance novels, and apparently getting raped by the love interest is fairly common in the genre.

Now, as to the rest of your piece..
First of all, playboy didn’t invent the term, and chances are, neither did that writer. It’s been around since at least 2003, as that’s the oldest entry for it in the urban dictionary.

Secondly, it’s not a synonym for rape. It refers to having sex with somebody you either hate personally, or with somebody you don’t hate but for hate-related reasons – by way of example, a woman having sex with your brother to piss you off after you broke up with her. Yes, it’s not an exclusively male pursuit… though I’m willing to bet men do it more often.

Hatefucking makes you an asshole, but not necessarily a rapist.

You see, you miss the irony. It isn’t the fact that Guy Cimbalo is a asinine twit with a sense of humor that would embarrass a tenth-grader. It isn’t even the idea of writing an article on borderline rape-fantasies (it is kind of interesting how so many people in comments everywhere insist on such a nuanced definition of the term in defending its use in an article that was anything but nuanced.). It is the fact that some asshats believe that this kind of sexist nastiness is quite OK as long as it is used for a liberal cause. I don’t think many of Cimbalo’s defenders would be quite so sanguine about his “humor” if his list included say, Michelle Obama, Jenene Garafalo, or Ellen DeGeneres.

Did you seriously just complain about that there are people who insist that the term be used accurately!? Seriously, think about that… Also, it’s not a nuance. Rape is a crime. Hatefucking, even though it displays a fairly repugnant callous disregard for the object of your “affections”, isn’t. The distiction is rather important.

Neither the idiot in question, nor playboy invented the term (or, at least not in this article). It doesn’t mean rape. And, while it’s not very important, it’s also not remotely PC.

I have no objection to the guy being tarred and feathered. He crossed the line in a huge way. That article may very well quality as sexual harassment and if it does, I would rather like the appropriate laws to be enforced… This guy’s a hatefull asshole, who crossed a whole lot of lines. I’m just saying use the term correctly, so that you’re attacking him for what he actually did, and not a reinterpretation of what he did.

Neo-Liberalism is a mental disease. Conservative women are HOTter! But it’s not hard to imagine the justified ‘Liberal’ outrage if say, Hustler Magazine ran a disgusting parody where Rush, Hannity, Beck, Savage and Ann Coulter gang-rape and tickle-torture Katie Couric, the PIAPS, and then Nancy Pelosi.

Imagine. The outrage would last for months in the MSM. There would be calls for firings and boycotts. NOW would be apoplectic. Poor little outraged, hypocritical Libs.

🙂

absurd thought –
God of the Universe says
joke about raping women

if they are conservative
EVIL freedom lovers…

sex is the height of evil

so is photography
but not pornography

always rape women…

who are conservative
they’re just gender traitors

@Daemon – actually, yes I am complaining. Because trying to siderail an argument about the appropriateness of posting revenge-sex fantasies about your political opponents into a pedantic dispute of the proper use of slang is the rhetorical equivalent of defending Mel Gibson’s drunken anti-Jew rant by complaining that using the term anti-Semitic is technically incorrect because Semitic is really a superset of Jew and if you use the term you’re really the racist. Or, for a stupid example on the right, all the trolls who go apoplectic whenever someone calls the US a democracy in a political thread posting long screeds about how we’re a REPUBLIC!!!! Which really makes the point about abortion, or gay marriage, or immigration or whatever else the thread is no longer about.

I’ll give you that there’s a category of people who will nitpick terms so as a way to find a loophole that lets the subject of the conversationoff the hook for whatever they have done.

Of course, you also have people who expand the defintiions of words in order to exagerate the subject’s action and draw even more fire down on their head.

Both groups are the same people. They are playing the same game, in the same way, for the same reason, just from the opposite side of the fence.

And both are wrong.

I believe that if you feel strongly about something, that you should have enough respect for your own convictions to form your attack on, or defense of, that subject as accurately as possible.

But to each their own. I’m done.

Sorry, as one of those neo-liberals, I have to go with Steve. In this case Guy Cimbalo meant rape, but didn’t want to use the word because he felt it was icky. The guy is a ‘tard.

And while it may not be prosecutable, Daemon, your description of “hate-fuck” pretty much is a version of rape. Of using someone else, in a physical sex way, without regard to their feelings or desires. The only difference is the matter of consent.

But in this case, the author of the blog uses the word as a synonym for rape.
