This is the part of the site where I maintain samples of my writing from chapters from my books to the occasional essay and short story. You can peruse the links below and get a feel for the kind of stuff I write, as well as how things have evolved over the past couple of decades. (The earliest sample, Forests of the Night was published in 1993.)
Of course, the idea here is that you read a part of the novel, and you’ll inevitably want to buy the book to find out what happens. This is why they all have convenient ordering links at the top and bottom. Check them out.
I’m typically not a short story writer. The ideas I get tend to run into novel length, if not whole trilogies. It’s rare that I can rein myself in under a few thousand words. In fact, I’ve published way fewer short stories than novels. That said, you can check out a few here.
Beyond my sporadically updated blog, I have written a few essays here and there. They tend to cover the predictable subject of writing. I know, a writer writing about writing, what a novel concept. At least you can be assured that I have some knowledge of what I’m talking about. Look those up here.
Then there are things I’ve written that don’t fall into those other categories. These items tend to be associated with novels I’ve written, introductions and so on. I keep those here.
