Without going too much into detail telling tales out of school, I jut got a pretty solid reminder that the economy is going real sour.  I suspect a lot of writers are feeling it in one way or another, and not just in sales.  Publishers are cutting back, and the publicity budget for most books amount to (to steal a line from one of my fellow Marcon panelists) two trouser buttons and a promise.

So, how do you help a struggling author when you’re tightening your own belt?  I have a suggestion that doesn’t cost you a dime:  Pick a few of your favorite authors, and recommend their latest book to your friends.  Sincerely recommending a book to a lot of people who trust your opinion can truly help an author’s career.  Especially in times like this.

Amen, Steve. Amazon reviews don’t hurt, either, although I haven’t done that in awhile.
